Overview of Future Educator Scholarship
The Future Educator Scholarship is available to incoming or existing college students majoring in education who believe educators can positively impact students’ lives and futures.
If you are an incoming freshman or a current student studying in education, apply for this award by explaining why you want to be an educator.
Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible, students must:
- Fill out the yearly Michigan Future Educator Fellowship application.
- Fill out the current-year Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
- Be a high school graduate.
- Enroll in a Michigan State Board of Education-approved Educator Preparation Program (EPP).
- Be working towards their initial teacher certification.
- Enroll in enough courses to be deemed full-time during the academic year, or the equivalent for those enrolled in an alternative certification program.
- Have attained the Junior grade level, as defined by the institution.
- Maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0.
- Be a Michigan resident since July 1 of the preceding calendar year.
How to Apply
Follow the steps:
- Fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
- Set up a portal account on the MiSSG Student Portal.
- Applications for the 2024-25 MI Future Educator Fellowship are now open.
