The Zell Miller Scholarship is a merit-based scholarship program for Georgia citizens who have achieved academic success. This scholarship helps students cover the costs of attending a postsecondary institution in the state of Georgia.

Overview of the Zell Miller Scholarship

The Zell Miller Scholarship is open to Georgia residents who have exhibited academic achievement. The scholarship helps students pay for their tuition at a Zell Miller Scholarship-eligible university or college.

Georgia’s Zell Miller Scholarship features program eligibility, academic standards, and duration of eligibility. The menu on the left provides program information, applications, and requirements.

Georgia public and private high school students can access their Zell Miller Scholarship status through their GAfutures account at My High School HOPE GPA.

To obtain an academic eligibility examination, graduates of unaccredited home study programs or out-of-state high schools must submit a request and supporting documents.

Eligibility Requirements

  • You must be a resident of Georgia.
  • To get funds, you must be either a citizen or an eligible non-citizen.
  • You must participate in a degree-seeking program.
  • You must maintain satisfactory academic progress.
  • You may not be in default or overdue payback on any federal or state aid.
  • Male students must register for Selective Service if necessary.
  • You must comply with Georgia’s Drug-Free Postsecondary Education Act of 1990.
  • Once you have completed your first Bachelor’s degree, you are no longer eligible for the HOPE or Zell Miller Scholarship.
  • The Georgia Student Finance Commission determines initial eligibility for the HOPE and Zell Miller scholarships.

Application Process

To be considered for the Zell Miller Scholarship, you must complete the Georgia Tech Application for Scholarships and Financial Aid (GT App) and either the FAFSA or the Georgia Student Financial Aid Application (GSFAPPS) annually.
