Scholarships for Masters Degrees – One of the most well-known government scholarships offered by India is the National Overseas Scholarship.
Through higher education overseas, it aims to improve the economic and social standing of low-income students from the following categories: landless agricultural laborers, Scheduled Castes, Denotified Nomadic and Semi-Nomadic Tribes, and Traditional Artisans.
Eligibility
- Candidates from underrepresented communities who want to apply for the National Overseas Scholarship must meet the standards listed below:
- Qualifications for Education:
- For master’s degree: at least 55%, or its undergraduate equivalent.
- A minimum of 55% for a doctorate, or the equivalent at the master’s level
- As of April 1, 2022, applicants must be under 35 years old.
- Family income as a whole shouldn’t be more than 6,00,000 INR.
- The family’s only two eligible children are eligible for the National Overseas Scholarship.
- Meeting the minimal standards for scores on exams such as the GMAT, PTE, IELTS, GRE, and so forth.
Application Process
The application form can be found on the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment’s official website starting in the second week of February. Students must submit a completed form and self-attested documentation to the ministry.
Documents Required
- 10th Board Certificate
- Caste Certificate
- Photo
- Scanned Signature
- Current Address proof/Permanent Address Proof, in case different from current address
- Qualifying Degree/Provisional Certificate
- Mark sheet of qualifying examination
- Valid Document regarding admission to a Foreign University (Application, Registration or Admission document)
- Income documents of all family members
- Employer’s NOC Certificate
- ITR acceptance document.
- Aadhar Card
Selection Process
- Applications will be evaluated if they send in their completed form and any required supporting documentation.
- Those who have previously been accepted to a university in the UK, Germany, or Canada will be given preference.
- Students who have not yet received admission will be given conditional consideration.
- If there is a tie between two or more applicants, the following process will be used: the most eligible candidates will fill the open slots designated for female applicants, and the eligible candidates who are older than the limit will fill the remaining slots. In other words, the oldest candidate will take the first available slot, and the remaining slots will be filled in descending order.
