Nevada Promise Scholarship Program: Full Application Details

The Nevada Promise Scholarship Program serves as a last-dollar scholarship, covering up to three years of registration and other mandatory fees for qualified students attending a Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) community college after all other forms of gift aid have been sought.

Overview of Nevada Promise Scholarship

The Nevada Promise Scholarship covers the cost of registration fees and other mandatory fees (tuition is not charged to residents of Nevada) not met by other gift aid, subject to appropriation.

For the purposes of the Nevada Promise Scholarship, gift aid is defined as a federal Pell Grant, a federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant, a Nevada Silver State Opportunity Grant, or a Governor Guinn Millennium Scholarship.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the Nevada Promise Scholarship, students must:

  • Be categorized as a Nevada resident for tuition purposes by the institution from which they intend to earn the NV Promise Scholarship.
  • Earn a high school diploma from a public or private high school in Nevada.
  • Be under the age of 20 when you first get the scholarship.
  • Complete the Nevada Promise Application by 11:59 p.m. on October 31, 2024, for the Fall 2025 award year.
  • Complete one of GBC’s trainings by March 1, 2025.
  • Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by April 1, 2025, to get a Student Affordability Index (SAI).
  • Complete and submit the online form by May 1, 2025, to report qualified community service hours.
  • Meet at least once with their mentor (as appointed by the college).
  • Fill out and submit the online form to record qualified community service hours.
  • Please submit any additional evidence required to determine your eligibility for financial aid.
  • Enroll in at least 12 semester credit hours of an associate degree program, a bachelor’s degree program, or a certificate of achievement program for each semester of the academic year.

Award Amount

The Nevada Promise Scholarship, which is a last-dollar scholarship, pays for the registration fee and required fees (tuition is not paid to Nevada residents) that are not covered by other forms of gift aid.

Gift aid includes the Federal Pell Grant, the Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG), the Silver State Opportunity Grant (SSOG), and the Governor Guinn Millennium Scholarship (GGMS).

Subject to allocation, the Nevada Promise Scholarship can pay up to three years of registration and other obligatory fees for qualifying students who are not covered by other forms of grant aid.

Scholarships will be offered to both prior recipients and first-time recipients.

Application Process

Follow the steps:

  1. To apply for the Nevada Promise Scholarship, the Class of 2025 must submit the online application by October 31 at midnight. Please see these more scholarship opportunities.
  2. Fill out the TMCC Admission Application and stay up-to-date on critical deadlines. Select the forthcoming fall application for admission.
  3. Complete the Nevada Promise Program Training. You must finish this training by March 1.
  4. Nevada Promise Scholarship applicants must submit a 2025-26 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by April 1.
  5. Learn about your placement options.
  6. Complete new student orientation.
  7. Complete and report community service hours.
  8. Meet with your assigned mentor at least once by July 1.
  9. Complete your financial aid file (to-do list).
  10. Register for at least 12 credits required for your certificate or degree program at TMCC for Fall by July 1.
