Overview of Palmetto Fellows Scholarship
This scholarship program is a merit-based program designed to recognize South Carolina’s most academically brilliant high school seniors and encourage them to attend college in the state.
It also aims to retain talented minority students who would otherwise seek education outside of the state.
Eligibility Requirements

- No felony convictions.
- No second or later alcohol or drug misdemeanors.
- Not in default on any state or federal loan.
- Enroll in a degree program at an eligible SC institution.
Additional Information
Students must apply for the Palmetto Fellows Scholarship through the Commission on Higher Education (CHE) or their high school guidance office. If the renewal requirements are completed, the prizes can be renewed for up to four years (eight semesters).
If a student graduates before completing all eight semesters, they forfeit any remaining Palmetto Fellows Scholarship stipends.
The Palmetto Fellows Scholarship cannot be used to pay for graduate studies. It is only offered to students completing their first baccalaureate degree at an approved university.
