Peo Star Scholarship Review

The newest of the P.E.O. philanthropies, the STAR Scholarship, was founded in 2009 to reward outstanding young women for their achievements in and out of the classroom.

STAR continues to let stellar students continue their influence in their communities and the world while giving each student a connection to a local chapter whose members are ready to encourage and support them as they embark on their college or university studies.

With interests as mixed as the students themselves, recipients have majored in: arts and humanities; business; health and medicine; multi-/interdisciplinary studies; public and social services; science, math, and technology; social sciences; and trades and personal services.

Eligibility Requirements

A woman is qualified for consideration for a STAR Scholarship if she:

  • Is recommended by the local chapter of the P.E.O. Sisterhood
  • Is a citizen or legal permanent inhabitant of the United States or Canada
  • Holds a minimum cumulative unweighted GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
  • Demonstrates excellence in leadership, academics, extracurricular activities, community service, and potential for future success
  • Plans to attend an accredited postsecondary education school in the United States or Canada full-time or part-time in the fall of the academic year following her high school graduation

The applications of people who satisfy these eligibility criteria will be evaluated on a nondiscriminatory basis without consideration of race, age, national origin, religious affiliation, disability, or P.E.O. connection.

Step-by-Step Application Process

Members of a local P.E.O. chapter will interview a student before choosing to recommend her. After the local chapter recommends a student, the P.E.O.
