Overview of Maryland Child Care Scholarship
The Child Care Scholarship (CCS) assists Maryland families that meet certain requirements in covering the costs of first-rate early childhood education and care. Now more than ever, applying for a childcare scholarship is quick and simple!
If you qualify, the new Fast-Track Child Care Scholarship procedure reduces the amount of time you must wait to get aid with child care costs to three (3) business days. You also receive 60 days of childcare support while your application is being processed!
Eligibility Criteria
For the Child Care Scholarship Program to be available to you, you have to be:
- a youngster under the age of 13 or
- a person with a qualifying impairment between the ages of 13 and 19.
In order for your Child Care Scholarship application to be expedited, you need to:
- be a resident of Maryland;
- have a job;
- be enrolled in education or training;
- fulfill the income requirements.
How to Apply
Step 1:
- Register for an account on the Child Care Scholarship Family Portal. After selecting “Register for a New Account,” fill out the form. (If you’re having trouble registering, check out the instructions on Learn How to Register.)
Step 2:
- Complete the quick online scholarship application and send in your two (2) supporting documents.
- evidence of employment or enrollment in a program or institution
- Evidence of habitation, such as a lease or utility bill
Step 3:
- Within three (3) business days, Child Care Scholarship Central 2 (CCS Central 2) will process your expedited application.
Step 4:
- Should you be qualified, you will receive a 60-day temporary scholarship to help with childcare expenses while your complete application is being processed.
They will need more details and supporting evidence before determining if you qualify for a 52-week scholarship.
Within 15 days of completing your fast-track application, provided you supply the required information and documents, they will determine if you qualify for a 52-week Scholarship before your temporary Scholarship expires.
