Amazon Future Engineer Scholarship Review
The Amazon Future Engineer Scholarship aims to inspire and educate students from underrepresented and underserved communities to pursue a future in computer science.
For Amazon, it’s imperative to build a diverse tech industry and future support for underserved students in their computer science education pursuits.
The Amazon Future Engineer Scholarship program allows students to upgrade their careers with a $40,000 scholarship.
Successful applicants will also get paid summer internship programming at Amazon at the tail end of their first year of post-secondary.
Value and Duration of Scholarship
The Amazon Future Engineer scholarship program helps high school seniors who have completed an advanced placement computer science course and plan to further their education at an accredited four-year college or university majoring in computer science, software engineering, computer engineering, or another computer-related field of study.
You can receive a scholarship of up to $40,000, available for up to four years (up to $10,000/year) towards an undergraduate degree in engineering or computer science, and an offer to complete a paid summer internship at Amazon at the end of their freshman year of college. Note that applications are now closed but will reopen in fall 2024.
Eligibility Requirements
- You must be a high school senior in the U.S. who is currently enrolled in or who has completed a high school or college dual degree course where computer science, engineering, or robotics is the subject. Students who have not taken this course can opt-in to take an assessment offered by Amazon.
- You must be planning to attain a bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, computer engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, robotics, or other computer science-related field of study from an accredited 4-year college or from a 2-year college with the intent to transfer to a 4-year college.
- You must be authorized to work in the US. Example: Employment Authorization Document Holder, Permanent Resident, or US Citizen.
- You must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.3 on a 4.0 scale (or its equivalent).
- You must demonstrate financial need.
Generally, this scholarship will propel you to a successful professional career in a single generation, lifting your household out of the poverty cycle.
