Overview of Breakthrough Junior Challenge
A Breakthrough Junior Challenge student between the ages of 13 and 18 who successfully and imaginatively communicates a scientific or mathematical theory, concept, or principle in a video format wins $250,000 each year.
The videos have to be a dynamic visual medium that uses diagrams, simulations, real-world examples, and more, and they can’t be longer than one minute and thirty seconds.
Science philanthropists and technology capitalists Julia and Yuri Milner are the sponsors of the program.

Students who fit the eligibility requirements below are eligible for this scholarship.
- Grade Level: High School learners

Application Information
To be considered for the scholarship, interested students must (1) submit a video (maximum of 2 minutes long) in which they creatively explain a STEM theory, concept, or principle and (2) score at least five (5) other submissions by July 10th.
