Cobell Scholarship: Eligibility and Relevant Details

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants for the scholarship program must meet the following qualifying requirements:

• Must be pursuing postsecondary education.
• You must be an enrolled member of a federally recognized tribe in the United States.
• Must be enrolled in full-time studies.
• Must intend to attend or presently attend a nationally, regionally, and industry-accredited nonprofit, public, or private institution.
• Must be working toward a vocational certificate or diploma, an associate’s, bachelor’s, master’s, doctorate, or professional degree or certificate.
• Graduate and professional degrees require a minimum GPA of 3.5.
• For undergraduate and post-baccalaureate degrees, a minimum GPA of 3.25 is required.
• Vocational degrees require a minimum GPA of 2.0.

Application Process

The application involves six steps:

• To create a profile on OASIS, complete and submit the General Application Profile.
• Fill out the eligibility section on OASIS to see which scholarships you are eligible for.
• If you are eligible and matched with a scholarship, answer the extra questions and submit your scholarship application through OASIS.
• If you are accepted, expect an email with a scholarship offer in mid-May.
• Submit the necessary papers to confirm eligibility. The acceptance email you received in mid-May will outline the verification process.
• Await formal announcement.

This process may seem a little convoluted, but it’s no more complicated than filling out an online college application or the FAFSA.

You must create an account on the Online Application and Student Information System (OASIS), complete the eligibility section, and respond to the supplemental questions.

The questions are supplemental because this is not the only scholarship available through OASIS. The system will also suggest other scholarships you may be eligible for!
