The Jack Kent Cooke College Scholarship Program is open to high school seniors who demonstrate financial need. Applicants are examined for academic success, leadership, service, and persistence. Learners who plan to seek a bachelor’s degree are welcome to apply.
Overview of Jack Kent Cooke Scholarship
The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Young Scholars Program provides extraordinarily talented kids from low-income households around the country with some of the most individualized, generous scholarships and educational support available.
From the eighth grade through high school, Cooke Young Scholars receive financial support and full educational advising to enable them to pursue their individual academic and talent goals.
Eligibility Requirements
The following eligibility standards must be fulfilled by applicants:
- Senior standing: make plans to graduate in the spring of 2024 from a U.S. high school.
- Autumn college enrollment: Plan to start autumn 2024 as a student in a four-year college that has been accredited.
- GPA: achieve a cumulative unweighted GPA of at least 3.5.
- Show unmet financial need: applicants with a family’s yearly gross income up to $95,000 will be taken into consideration. The foundation will carry out a thorough financial examination, accounting for all of the student’s and the student’s parents’ assets and income, during the selection process.
Selection Criteria
The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation works with a group of national educational specialists to assess each application on an individual basis for the College Scholarship Program. The selection procedure is based on the following criteria:
- Academic ability and achievement: Exhibits a drive to be challenged, a solid academic record, exceptional teacher recommendations, and a passion for learning. A cumulative unweighted GPA of 3.5 is the minimum required of eligible applicants.
- Leadership: inspires others, demonstrates initiative, and makes a constructive contribution to the community.
- Persistence: Shows tenacity in the face of difficulties, is goal-oriented, and faces difficulties with the flexibility to adjust.
- Hanging financial need: Applicants with a maximum yearly gross income of $95,000 will be taken into consideration. The new College Scholarship awardees from the previous year had a median household income of about $40,000.The Foundation will carry out a thorough financial examination, accounting for all of the student’s and the student’s parents’ assets and income, during the selection process.
