Students enrolled in bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral programs at recognized Nigerian universities can apply for the N700,000/year 2024 PTDF Scholarships, which come with a laptop computer.

PTDF Scholarship Details

The Federal Government agency responsible for meeting the demands of the oil and gas industry by fostering the development of indigenous human capacity and petroleum technology is the one offering the PTDF Scholarship.

The organization is seeking submissions from eligible applicants for the Bachelor’s, Master’s, and PhD scholarships for specified programs in 2023–2024. 

The program was created to give applicants the chance to make use of a wide range of expertise and resources provided by top universities worldwide. It invites candidates to apply via PTDF to certain programs offered by the partner universities.

PTDF Scholarship Requirements

The following requirements must be met for interested and qualified applicants to apply for the PTDF Scholarship Program:

Postgraduate Applicants

  • A full-time admission letter to any Federal University in Nigeria is required of applicants.
  • A second-class lower (2.2) in a field connected to oil and gas or management.
  • A minimal grade point average in a second-degree certificate program relating to oil and gas.
  • Have results from the WAEC, SSCE, or NECO worth at least five credits (two sittings maximum and the two results must come before the first degree).
  • Certificate of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) or Exemption Letter
  • A certificate attesting to one’s native state and local government status.
  • A 1000-word or more personal statement outlining your motivation for pursuing this course of study is required for master’s applicants.
  • A six-page maximum PhD research proposal is required. The research area must be relevant to the Oil and Gas industry.

Undergraduate Applicants

  • Candidates must be enrolled full-time in any Federal University in Nigeria.
  • Candidates must be enrolled in 200-level courses at the moment.
  • The study program ought to be associated with the oil and gas sector.
  • Have five WAEC, SSCE, or NECO credits, which should include two in math and English language.
  • For any undergraduate applicant, having a valid admission letter from the university is a requirement.
  • A minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.0 on a 5-scale or 3.0 on a 4-scale, or 2.2 in the first year, must be attained.
  • Transcripts for the first year of study must be submitted by applicants; these must be signed and stamped by the university’s HOD, Exams Officer, or other authorized staff.

PTDF Scholarship Duration and Reward

Both undergraduate and graduate students can apply for the scholarships to help pay for their education at Nigerian-based universities;

  • Undergraduates: N500,000 each year and a laptop (625,000 in the first year)
  • Postgraduates + Laptop (N700,000/Yr)

Required Documents

It is recommended that applicants scan and attach the following papers to their online application forms:

  • Proof of a statement of results from the WAEC, SSCE, or NECO with a minimum of five credits, including mathematics and English language (no more than two sittings; the first sitting result needs to be uploaded).
  • Admissions letter from the university.
  • Academic transcript(s) for the first year, properly signed and stamped by the exam officer, the head of a department, or other authorized staff.
  • A certificate attesting to one’s native state and local government
  • a 300-word or less personal statement outlining your motivation for enrolling in the course.
