UGC Scholarship Portal – Using Direct Benefit Transfers (DBT), the University Grants Commission (UGC) is allocating funds for fellowships and scholarships.
According to the chairperson of the UGC, the organization has developed a bank site that is linked with the public financial management system to facilitate the quick and simple distribution of scholarship and fellowship funds.
In collaboration with Canara Bank, the UGC created the Scholarship and Fellowship Management Portal (SFMP) to facilitate the distribution of scholarship and fellowship funds.

The UGC administers the Scholarship and Fellowship Management Portal (SFMP), which is a management site used to distribute scholarship and fellowship funds.
Payments to awards are automatically created on the authorized online portal, scholarship.canarabank.in, for all recipients linked by university, institution, or college, per the monthly confirmation of candidates by the appropriate university, institution, or college.

UGC Scholarship Portal – Benefits
In the past, there were several problems and delays with the scholarship and fellowship amounts for the candidates because of the outdated and delayed payment mechanism, as well as other issues with the SFMP portal.
To guarantee that the scholarship money is paid to the students promptly, the UGC decided to incorporate a bank portal within the SFMP. The following is a list of the latest SFMS portal modifications that the UGC has implemented:
- Linking the start by the academic
- Verification that the scholar has started paying each month
- Module for monitoring payments
- Students’ paperless work in the Grievance module
- Orientation of academic users
- The system has undergone modifications to reduce the hassles that students experienced when using the previous version of the system.
UGC Scholarship Portal – Implementation
- The UGC president announced that the commission has chosen to hold a virtual training session for nodal officers on the official webpage from November 14 to November 18.
- All institutes are required to select the appropriate nodal officers who oversee the SFMP and bring them to the portal usage training.
- The chairperson of the panel has indicated that the URL for the virtual meet would be made public shortly.

UGC Scholarship Portal – Steps to Register
- The candidate needs to go to scholarship.canarabank.in, the official website. The next step for the applicant is to register by visiting the website’s registration tab.
- The applicant must update the necessary information after they are taken to the registration page to properly register on the portal.
- The applicant needs to log in to the portal after completing the registration process. The applicant‘s email address contains the login information.
- The applicant will need to update the password after successfully logging in.
- The applicant must use their email address and the freshly created password to log into the site as the last step.
- After successfully logging in, the applicant can use all the options on the portal to suit his or her needs.
